The American Quarter Horse is said to have been developed in Colonial times as a sprinter and has the distinction of being the fastest horse to run a quarter mile. As the West was settled he soon became an invaluable ranch horse because of his "cow sense" and quick speed. This sculpture exemplifies the modern Quarter Horse.
